Children's Literature

What is a Biography?

Biographies in children's literature are books that tell the true stories of real people’s lives. These books are written to help children learn about important, inspiring, or interesting individuals—from the past or present—and how they made a difference in the world.

They focus on real events, such as:

  • Childhood and family life
  • Challenges and achievements
  • Big moments or contributions in history, science, sports, the arts, or activism

Children's biographies help young readers connect with real-life role models, learn about history, and see how one person can make a big impact.
