North Africa and the Near East

North Africa is generally understood to include seven countries: Algeria, Egypt, Libya, Morocco, Sudan, Tunisia, and Western Sahara. Some sources may also include Mauritania in this region.
The Near East, sometimes used interchangeably with Middle East, generally encompasses countries of Western Asia and North Africa. This includes Turkey, Cyprus, Egypt, Iran, Iraq, Israel, Jordan, Lebanon, Palestine, Syria, and parts of Armenia. Some definitions also include countries like Saudi Arabia, the United Arab Emirates, and other Arab nations.
